About me

Hello and welcome to my blog!

As you have seen this is a personal journey, a place where I write about random topics to improve

and show my English level.

I’ve been studying English since I was a child but until 2012 I didn’t use this language as a habit,

this was when I move to Ireland where I worked and studied for a year.

From then to now I’ve been working in Mallorca to many British companies, so I could keep a B1 level

but it’s time to increase it to reach a B2.

At first, my apologies if some words or phrases hasn’t got a good sense, I’m still learning and this blog

is my tool to improve my English level.

Well, let me introduce myself so you’ll know who’s behind this blog.

My name is Eva and I’m from Mallorca, Spain. I’m in my thirties, older than Bridget Jones at her first book

but younger as she was at the last one.

I studied graphic design but at my last twenties, I found this wasn’t my real passion so I became a deep

search to find what I really wanted to do with my life (it sounds like the 30’s crisis!).

As you can see in my CV I’ve worked in many areas so I’ve developed a lot of skills but currently

I’m studying administration so I hope to find a good job in an office and have a quieter life.

My two passions in life are my dogs and motorbikes, so in my free time, you can easily find me walking

with my dogs in the mountain or taking a ride with my motorbike.

Feel welcome to my blog and I hope you to enjoy reading it as much as I’ve enjoyed writing these posts.

Regards,

A little bit of Irish stories and Ireland history

Hello readers, if is someone reading this! How is going your quarantine time? Mine is not as productive as I’ve imagined, but some days are better than others, so let’s enjoy the good days. Today I haven’t done too much but I have watched a lot of contents, first of all let me explain that I love watching documentaries and more over to listen to podcasts, this last is something new for me, actually I began to listen to podcasts about one and half year ago. My favourite topics are crime stories, reviews and information about films and history. A few days ago I listened to a podcast about the arrival of the Irish to America, a podcast made by The Bowery Boys who I highly recommend to listen to! I lived in Ireland for a year and was an awful year, this experience was a little bit traumatic for me but more traumatic was to come back to Spain, I had learnt so much from the Irish that my first months in Spain were really hard to adapt to our culture and behaviour, specially about how to be a...

Back to school

Hello readers, it’s been a long time since the last time I wrote a post but here I am again. Let me tell you one of the reasons I’ve decided to write again, maybe it would help you! A few months ago I had a job interview and one of the requirements was to have good English spoken and written, fortunately, I had this modest blog so I could show my skills. This had been the first time I had been asked for it! So I’m proud to write in English although sometimes I don’t know what to write about. So there is a thing I learned: show how good is your English even if you’re not a great writer! I am a student from a month ago, after the job interview I wrote before I didn’t get that job (not for my English but it was for other reasons) and unfortunately, I lost my job for a cyber attack to the company (yes, this is for another post!) so I decided to try to study again. As an adult student, I’ve found lots of difficulties, the first one is to study every day, our brain is a  big muscle and i...

Back to the quarantine

Hello readers, how is going your quarantine? Today is the stage 2 in my country! So we can go everywhere, visit our friends and family, ride our motorbikes, take long walks with our dogs… Things we used to do daily and were boring but now are just amazing activities to do! I haven’t written for a week at the reason was I began to work again, well, was my first day after two months in the company, considering that I’ve been two long months in quarantine at home.  This first week of work and of “real life” has been difficult for me, I couldn’t imagine how life would be after the quarantine, even I didn’t considered I could have some trauma as it was this: I had a trauma, I was afraid of strangers, the virus, the environment, everything scared me because I was as confused as all my workmates. We use PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) that covers almost all our body, even the workers who aren’t directly in touch with the customers, but the most annoying PPE was the mask, I couldn’t im...
